Sweet Freedom... for John Paul

John Paul has learned (after 2 1/2 years) to climb out of bed. He appeared in the living room with a beautiful smile and stance of accomplishment as he said, "Heeeey Mama!" I was speechless, and the amount of time it took to respond in combination with the look on my face made John Paul's precious face of joy turn to confusion and sadness (as evidenced by "the lip."

That was a few days ago and we've had a roller coaster of a spanking (or two), bribes, rewards, hugs, tears, sleep- thank you God- and anxiety.

Our next move? A twin bed. It's time. I feel like I might as well give him the keys. I feel like he's ready to move out. You can laugh at me. Everybody else has.

Hear that? That's sound of my heart breaking. Good thing he's not potty trained yet or I would be a mess. There's always Therese, my sweet BABY girl... and the 10 others I still expect to have.

We are going through the same thing with our two-and-a-half-year-old. The other day, she was crying in her crib, and next thing I knew, she met me halfway there laughing hysterically. Turkey! I'm not ready for her to be in a big-girl bed either, *tear!

I was incredibly honored to be there for this momentous occasion. :) Truly, your look was indescribably priceless (though you did a good job describing it in your blog, I think).
Good for you for forcing yourself to stay in perspective. A toddler bed will be so CUTE in his room anyway, and maybe you can have snuggle time in his bed with him sometimes and read him books. You'll both love it! Good luck with everything. Thanks for going through all of this stuff BEFORE I do with my kids so that I can look to you for advice! :)

I will not laugh at you (well, maybe a chuckle). I can relate to you on all accounts, but I will just tell you now how much I love and miss you. You are a wonderful mother and your babies are so blessed to have your sweet, unconditional, and humorous love!
