And now for some real news...
Starting July 1st, David is going to be the new Director of Marriage and Family Life for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. And so we will be moving to the Metairie area at the end of June. How did this come about, you may ask? Well, through a lot of discernment on both our parts, a lot of prayer (which in my case, means yelling at God internally for such a stupid idea) and eventually surrendering to the REALITY that HE is FAITHFUL, that He has our best interest in mind (as well as those of everyone we are leaving behind), and now feeling excitement and joy at what He has in store of our little family.
The best picture I can give you of the above process is like telling a toddler it's time for bed while they are in the middle of playing with their favorite toy. They are in shock, denial, then the tears, the tantrum, throwing toys, so you have to pick them up and wrestle with them until eventually they acquiesce and ask you to rock them and sing them their favorite song while they smile and fall asleep in your arms...
I imagine I don't need to tell you which of us (me or David) I am describing here...
So yes, at the end of June we are on our way to the one city that we said we would NEVER live in, which adds to the list of "nevers" that God has helped us to swallow our words and check off one by one. The other boxes that have been checked off you may ask?
Combined between us they are: falling for David Dawson, leaving seminary and getting married and having a baby within the year while teaching high school religion, coaching girls basketball, staying at home while my husband works for the church, youth ministry, and living in New Orleans...
If you want to buy my house, I would very much appreciate you coming to look at it EXACTLY as it looks like right now... pretty sure there is a half eaten banana on the floor in the living room, and an un-flushed toilet, compliments of the 4 yr old. Don't worry, I haven't mopped in 2 weeks.
4 beds, 2 baths, 2100 sq feet 170K... call me y'all!

I totally heard this through the Catholic grapevine-- which is VERY small in these parts :-)) Anyways, I always said I would never live here either. Sigh. But I actually like it! Lots of stuff to do, lots of great groups, etc. And I'll be homeschooling Katherine next year (add that to MY list of things I said I'd never do) so if you need local resources let a sista know!
